Check out Oasi’s fall project and tour!

The Oasi Trio is dedicated to the performance of contemporary music, with a focus on presenting new and original compositions for all combinations of instruments in the ensemble—clarinet, violin, and piano. They aim to increase the accessibility of new music through performance, projects, and outreach. Their fall 2019 project, known as the Post-Cortona Premieres Recital and Tour, consists of commissions from five alumni composers of the Cortona Sessions for New Music. The trio premiered these works in New York City in early September and will take the program on tour with performances in Chicago, Michigan, Kansas, Oklahoma, Houston, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia. In addition to their performances, the trio will give masterclasses, workshops, and outreach performances on their tour. Oasi is also currently commissioning seven composers from the Millennium Composers Initiative and will premiere these works in June 2020. Oasi hopes to contribute to the growing and changing world of contemporary music through future commissions, recordings, collaborative and multidisciplinary performance opportunities, and outreach. The trio strives to make this repertoire approachable to audiences of all ages and musical backgrounds.

Oasi consists of Kathryn Vetter, Claire Niederberger, and Magnus Villanueva. Residing across the country—in New York City, Houston, and Chicago, respectively—the three are active as performers, teachers, and collaborators. They met at the Cortona Sessions for New Music in Cortona, Italy in May 2018.
